QPR share spoils with Villa

Drew a blank: QPR striker Nahki Wells

Nahki Wells’s Queens Park Rangers earned a 2-2 draw away to Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship yesterday.

Villa striker Tammy Abraham took his goal tally for the season to 16 with a brace against their promotion rivals.

The home side made an excellent start and took the lead when John McGinn, who had earlier hit the crossbar, sent in a cross for Abraham to head home.

Luke Freeman levelled for QPR before the interval when he hit home from 25 yards and Ebere Eze put them in front with a neat finish after a counter-attack. Abraham levelled from substitute Anwar El-Ghazi’s cross, but Conor Hourihane’s free kick was just too high and Yannick Bolasie headed over as QPR managed to hold on for 11 minutes of stoppage time.

Bermuda striker Wells was substituted in the 71st minute.

n Reggie Lambe came off at half-time in struggling Cambridge United’s 6-0 defeat away to Milton Keynes Dons in League Two yesterday.
