William White and Tevahn Tyrell are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their Bermuda team-mate Danté Leverock at Narva Trans in the Estonian top flight.

Defender White has already started trials at the club and will be joined by striker Tyrell, who is believed to have departed for Northern Europe yesterday.

White played with Finnish side Narpes Kraft last season but parted ways with the club at the end of a campaign, which saw them relegated from group C of the Kakkonen — the third tier of Finnish football.

The 23-year-old now hopes to convince Narva Trans that he has something to offer the club and is encouraged with the way the trials have gone so far.

“Things are going well,” White said. “The facilities are good. There’s a lot of snow right now, so we are only using one field. I’m happy to be here and [I’ve got] big shoes to fill after Danté, but I’m up for the challenge. I’ve got a game on January 12 and hopefully I get a contract after that.”

White said he is looking forward to the arrival of national team-mate Tyrell.

“It’s nice because obviously we know each other and get along really well, so we’re just hoping we can bring some Bermudian magic over here,” White added.

“The more [Bermudian] players playing at the [professional] level, the better for our chances for the Gold Cup.”

White and Tyrell were unused substitutes in Bermuda’s 1-0 win over El Salvador in a Concacaf Nations League qualifier at the National Stadium in November.

Leverock, who scored eight goals in 34 appearances for Narva Trans last season before joining Irish side Sligo Rovers, played an integral role in helping to secure the trials for the pair.

“I try to use my contacts and experiences to help players I believe can make the grade,” Leverock said. “I recommended William and Tevahn to my agent and he got them [trials] at Narva Trans,” added Leverock, who has captained Bermuda in their previous two Nations League qualifiers against Sint Maarten and El Salvador.

“The more professionals we have in the national team the better, so I try to help in anyway I can. It’s a great opportunity for them to try and get into the professional game.”

Leverock has agreed a one-year deal with Sligo and will become only the second Bermudian to play in the Irish top flight after goalkeeper Freddy Hall, who spent three years at Limerick.
