Smith agrees terms with Cheltenham

Jonté Smith wins a header for Cheltenham Town against Burnley Under-23 in pre-season

Jonté Smith is set to sign for Sky Bet League Two side Cheltenham Town until January.

Smith, who made himself unavailable for Bermuda’s Nations League opener against Panama in group B of League A at home on Thursday, has passed a medical and agreed personal terms.

The 25-year-old, who appeared for Cheltenham on trial during pre-season, had a stint at League One side Oxford United last term and previously appeared in the Football League for Crawley Town.

Smith’s signing on transfer deadline day will take the number of players in the squad to 24 professionals, which includes four loanees. Cheltenham play Exeter City away tonight in their opening Leasing.com Trophy match of the season.

This story has been amended to show that Cheltenham play in Sky Bet League Two.
