Eva Frazzoni and her College of Saint Rose team-mates will be looking to clear the next hurdle when they host Bentley in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semi-final today.The home team are the firm favourites going into the match at the Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, New York, having romped to a comfortable win at Bentley earlier this season.“We played Bentley last time at their home field and got the job done with a 4-1 victory, so we as a team are looking forward to hosting them and hopefully get the same or better result,” Frazzoni said.“They have a grass field, which can be difficult as much games are on turf. Therefore, home-field advantage should play a vital role for us.”College of Saint Rose advanced to the last four courtesy of a 4-1 home win over Pace University in the quarter-finals at the weekend, with midfielder Frazzoni netting what proved the game winner.“My goal was important, as we were tied at the time,” she added. “However, it was completely a team effort and I was glad to help my team out, of course.”Nina Predanic, Caitlyn Dabagian and Kaelyn Britt were also on target for College of Saint Rose, while Victoria Barris replied for the visiting side. “We are obviously looking forward to the semi-final but still have work to do,” Frazzoni said. “There were some big upsets in the other quarter-finals. Every team is tough despite how they look on paper.“We are hoping to continue our stride and win the NE10 conference tournament. It will keep us on a high going into the NCAA tournament, especially because we will get the No 1 seed for our region.”Elsewhere at the weekend, Zenawi Bowen and MacQuille Walker had a big say in Thomas College’s North Atlantic Conference title-clinching exploits.Bowen, the North Village and former Bermuda Under-20 utility player, opened the scoring, while Walker assisted on the winner as Thomas College edged SUNY Canton 2-1 in the semi-final at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.Walker, of Hamilton Parish, then netted twice with Bowen providing the assist for his second as Thomas College beat top seeds Maine Maritime 4-1 in the final on Sunday to clinch their second straight NAC Championship title.Thomas College will face top-ranked Amherst College in the NCAA Division III tournament at Keene State College this Saturday.
