Danté Leverock says it was a “great experience” playing for Sligo Rovers, but has decided to take his football talents elsewhere.The Bermuda captain is presently exploring his options after severing ties with the SSE Airtricity League side, where he netted two goals in 22 appearances, on his own terms.“I decided to move on from Ireland,” Leverock said. “It was a great experience playing in a tough league, but I wanted to move on.“I’m looking for a new home now for next season with some things in the works, so as of right now I’m being patient and making the right decision for my next club.”The 27-year-old joined Sligo on a one-year contract last December after leaving Estonian outfit Narva Trans, where he netted eight goals in 34 appearances.In a club statement, Sligo, who finished seventh in the table this season, thanked Leverock and two of his former team-mates for their services.“Sligo Rovers wish to note the contribution of Danté Leverock, Kris Twardek and Sam Warde to the club following the conclusion of the season,” the statement read. “We wish them well in their future career and thank them for all of their efforts.”Leverock, who groomed his talents at Dandy Town, has also had playing stints with English sides Staines Town, Leatherhead and Ilkeston as well as former United Soccer League sides Harrisburg City Islanders and Bermuda Hogges.The towering central defender is presently with the Bermuda national team who face Major League Soccer side DC United in a friendly in St Croix, US Virgin Islands, today.The match is a warm-up for Bermuda’s final group B game in League A of the Concacaf Nations League against Mexico in Toluca on Tuesday.“We are in preparation mode for the national team and we know we need a positive result against Mexico, which may seem impossible to some,” Leverock said. “But we believe in ourselves and our ability and the goal remains the same; to stay in group A and qualify for the 2021 Gold Cup.”Bermuda lost 5-1 to Mexico in the Nations League at the National Stadium last month.Kyle Lightbourne’s team are bottom of group B on goal difference, four inferior to second-place Panama, who face Mexico today.The bottom nation will be relegated to League B.
