The Progressive Labour Party has apparently postponed its upcoming Annual General Conference that will decide a new Premier and party leader.

A message, seen by The Royal Gazette, said that the Central Committee, which met at party headquarters last night, decided to delay the conference that was scheduled for October 28 to 30.

It added: “Accordingly, the current conference timetable is paused.

“All delegate selection meetings scheduled under that timetable are postponed and should not take place until a revised timetable is issued.”

The announcement — reported earlier by the Bermuda Broadcasting Company — came after Curtis Dickinson, a former finance minister vying to lead the ruling party, took court action to block progress on a membership process he claimed was contrary to the PLP constitution.

The notice said: “Once the court matter is resolved, proposed new conference dates and a revised timetable will be submitted to Central Committee for approval.

“Branches, members and candidates will then be notified of the new arrangements.”

It informed members that all other branch business may continue.
