Wellington Oval unsuitably marked for match

The match between Hamilton Parish and Devonshire Colts in the Shield preliminary round was postponed yesterday because Wellington Oval was deemed unsuitable to play.Referee Antoine Augustus, in consultation with match commissioner Zane Stowe, called the game off without a whistle being blown. Both teams were dressed and ready for the game.Augustus said: “At 11.15am the field was inspected by match officials and some lines were either staggered or not visible at all.“I brought this to Parish’s attention as this is their home game but at 12.05pm nothing had been done, so I consulted with the match commissioner Mr Stowe and it was decided to call the game off. “I will submit my report to the Bermuda Football Association.”On notifying the teams that the game would not be played, the Parish players became frustrated with some blaming St George’s Cricket Club for not getting the field ready for play.
