Donawa scores seventh goal of season

Justin Donawa, the Darlington forward, ended the year with a bang after scoring in his team’s 2-0 win away to Blyth Spartans in the Vanarama National League North at the weekend.The Bermuda player made a return to manager Alun Armstrong’s starting line-up and took his chance well as he tapped in his seventh goal of the season from Will Hatfield’s pull back in the box to double the visiting side’s advantage just before the half.“It’s always a great feeling getting back on the scoresheet in a good win,” Donawa, who was also involved in the build up which led to former Blyth player Sean Reid’s twelfth-minute opener at Croft Park, said.Darlington’s third win over the festive period and fourth on the run leaves them in ninth place, a point shy of the play-offs“As a group, I believe we’ve hit a really good run of form and feel very confident after ending the year with four consecutive leaue wins,” Donawa added. “This has also given the fans something to be happy about through this busy holiday period. Now we’re just looking start 2020 just as we’ve ended 2019 an dkeep climbing the table into a play-off position.“Personally, I want to contnue to be an impact whenever I’m on the pitch and help the club have a positive sceond half of the season.”Donawa’s Bermuda team-mate Osagi Bascome was an unused substitute during the match.Elsewhere in the Vanarama National League North, Milan Butterfield and his Kidderminister Harriers team-mates lost 0-2 at Brackley Town. Butterfield’s compatriot Knory Scott, was an used substitute for Harriers.Reggie Lambe, the Cambridge United forward, came on as a 54th minute substitute in his team’s 1-0 home victory over Morecambe in the Sky Bet League Two yesterday.
