Paget Community Club are poised to re-enter a team in the Bermuda Football Association ranks, The Royal Gazette can reveal.

Jaime Ramsay, the new Paget president, stated the club is in the process of revamping their entire programme from “the ground up” with the intent of rejoining the league as early as next season.

“We are looking to rejoin the league next season,” Ramsay confirmed. “We are looking to start next season and everybody is happy and excited.

“Everybody wants to see the team come back and right now we are looking to rebuild our youth programme and also our senior programme to make sure that we do what’s right for the Paget community.

“We’re not looking to get promoted the first year. If we do, it would be a wonderful thing. But right now we are just trying to rebuild from the ground up but not forgetting the foundation it was built on.”

Ramsay said the club is weighing available coaching options.

“We have met a few coaches but have yet to make a final decision,” he added. “We are doing a lot of work behind the scenes to try and get things going again.”

Paget struggled in the Premier Division during the 2018-19 campaign, winning just two of their 18 league matches and were relegated.

They defaulted their final match against PHC, Zebras a sign that their troubles had already begun.

During the summer transfer period, eight players left the club, including defensive pair Robert Richardson, McQuinn Burch and goalkeeper Jason Smith. Richardson returned to PHC and Burch and Smith headed back to Southampton Rangers.

Paget ultimately dropped out of the league after not being able to field a team for the 2019-20 season, reducing the First Division to nine teams.
