Waldron and Lopes dominate at Vesey Street

Kiwon Waldron and Skyway Majestic

Kiwon Waldron and Tyler Lopes stamped their authority during the harness racing at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre last Friday.

The two drivers posted 12 heat victories between them competing with three separate ponies at Vesey Street.

Waldron had two victories each with Random Stables’s two-year-old War Machine, Danielle Correia’s mare Skyway Majestic and Aaron Sims’s three-year-old mare Double Time.

He also steered Skyway Majestic out of the 1:07/2 — 1:08/1 division after posting a 1:06/1 en route to victory in the third heat for added measure.

Lopes extended his solid run of form after chalking up two wins each with his two-year-old Google Me, Arnold Manders’s gelding Cherokee’s Ironman and Whited Family’s mare IC’s Overextended.

Lopes also posted the night’s fastest time of 1:03/3 with IC’s Overextended that was two fifths of a second slower than the season’s fastest time and the mare’s record of 1:03/1, which the driver achieved with the same pony last month in the Free for All.

He also got a leg out of the 1:08/2 — 1:10 division with Indiana-bred filly, Google Me.

Lopes also posted the night’s second fastest time of 1:04 with IC’s Overextended and a share of the third fastest time of 1:04/4 with Inwood Stables’s gelding Brona’s Mike with Nick DeCosta at the helm.

Maurice Raynor was the remaining driver managing multiple heat victories.

Raynor had two wins in the 1:08/2 — 1:10 division with BCC Stables’ mare GI Jane.

Others posting victories were women’s driver Kirista Rabain, Andy Stoneham, Ryan King and Lucas Bridges.

The next race day is scheduled for Sunday at 1pm.
