Back in action: SoftBank Team Japan led Oracle Team USA at the start and around the mid-course reaching mark in practice racing yesterday on the Great Sound (Talbot Wilson, America’s Cup Correspondent, writes). It was first day of a five-day race practice period running through Friday, which is just one week before the qualifying Round Robin matches start. Team Japan had the lead, but were overtaken right at the downwind mark and Oracle extended their lead upwind and all the way around the course. Oracle also defeated Land Rover BAR, who suffered at the hands of Team Japan. Winds were about 18kts for early racing yesterday, but moderated during the afternoon. Teams can expect typical summer breezes the rest of the week and will be able to test their light air foils in racing conditions (Photograph by Talbot Wilson)
