Grant wins in straight sets

Saltus Grammar School filled all four over-16 semi-final positions at the Bermuda School Sports Federation senior school table tennis tournament at Smash! Table Tennis on Reid Street on Tuesday.

Julian Grant defeated John Ewles in straight sets in the final.

Grant beat the top seed 11-6, 11-6 to win the tournament. He also defeated Max Marshall 11-4, 11-9 in the semi-final, while Ewles beat Jack Brown 11-7, 11-3

Berkeley Institute’s Jeremiah Samuels broke the Saltus dominance by winning the under-16 title. Samuels entered the play-off stage ranked third but improved as the day went on. He defeated Saltus’s Alex Southern 11-7, 11-4 in the final.

Samuels beat Noah Simons from Saltus 11-5, 11-8 in the semi-final, while Southern beat top-seeded team-mate Nick Cooper 8-11, 11-6, 11-7.
