Jehziyh Rawlins won the under 1100 ratings division at the annual Cary Cup Table Tennis Tournament in the Triangle Table Tennis centre in North Carolina last week.

Rawlins, a student at Dellwood Middle School, was joined on the trip by another 13-year-old, David Goonewardene of Warwick Academy, who competed in the under 1500 ratings group.

Coach Jaymo Durham, vice-president of the Bermuda Table Tennis Association, accompanied the pair on the trip and competed himself, reaching the quarter-finals of the under 1900 division.

“The boys competed well and gained valuable experience from their efforts,” Durham said.

“We look forward to working on their strengths and weaknesses and having even stronger performances in future competitions.”
