Berkeley Institute landed under-16 and over-16 titles as Ashley Irby, of Saltus Grammar School, continued her dominance of the girls’ race with another victory during the Bermuda School Sports Federation Senior School Cross-Country Championships race at the Arboretum yesterday.

Irby, who has never lost a championship race, easily won her over-16 contest in a time of 13min 11sec 48sec ahead of Kayla Raymond, of Mount Saint Agnes, who was second in 13.59. Warwick Academy’s Skylar Powell came across the line third in 14.45.

He started to pull away with Rayquan Woodley-Smith from CedarBridge Academy after the first lap.

The two remained close to each other until the last lap when Outerbridge pulled away to win by 27 seconds.

Woodley-Smith finished second in 16.26, while Nicholas Pilgrim, of Warwick Academy, was third in 16.55

Zoe Hasselkuss, of Somersfield Academy, won the under-16 girls’ division in a time of 13.42. Meron Simons, of Bermuda High School, finished second in 14.00 and Liana Medeiros, of Mount Saint Agnes, rounded out the top three in 14.11.
