Bermuda residents and visitors will be treated to a full schedule of activities and entertainment as the island celebrates the 2019 MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda.

Starting on Thursday, April 25, the Opening Ceremony at the flagpole on Front Street will feature Bermuda’s young athletes. The family-focused evening continues into a special Triathlon Festival Harbour Nights.

Front Street is the venue on Friday night for the RenaissanceRe Kids Duathlon at 6.30pm, where youngsters from 7 to 15 years old will compete, running and cycling in age groups, and can experience the World Series signature blue carpet finish line.

Bermuda’s World Champion triathlete Flora Duffy will race through the same finish area the following day on Saturday when thousands of fans line the streets to witness the world’s best of the sport swim in Hamilton Harbour, bike up the challenging Corkscrew Hill and run through the city, including up Burnaby Hill.

The Amateur Age Group races begin at 7am with staggered starts throughout the morning. The Elite Men’s Race starts at 1pm and Elite Women’s Race at 4pm. Flora Duffy will race on home soil again this year to defend her title, after a record-breaking win in 2018.

Bermuda will again be in the international spotlight with global television reach as we host the second of the International Triathlon Union World Series circuit. After the excitement of the racing, Front Street will transform into a party zone as the Digicel After-Race Fête will celebrate and round off the Race Day action.

The fun continues with Sunday’s Shopping Festival on April when Hamilton retailers will open from 10am to 5pm, offering special in-store shopping experiences and prize draws for a shopping spree and travel vouchers.

“The event schedule this year has something for everyone and we are encouraged by the collaboration of so many community partners who will contribute to the success of the event for the benefit of Bermuda,” said Pat Phillip-Fairn, WTSBDA committee chairwoman.

The MS Amlin World Triathlon 2019 on April 2019 is the second of three annual World Series Triathlon events that Bermuda will host; in 2021 the island will be home to the ITU Grand Final and Age Group World Championships.
