Frazzoni helps college clinch title

Eva Frazzoni in action for the College of Saint Rose this season

Eva Frazzoni and her College of Saint Rose women’s team overcame a major hurdle after clinching the Northeast-10 Conference title on Tuesday. The Golden Knights came from behind to edge visiting New Haven 2-1 at the Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, New York. Maaike Rahms put New Haven ahead before the home side hit back through goals from Olivia Boucher and Caitlyn Dabagian.“It feels very surreal that we have won,” Frazzoni, who is in her senior year, said. “Since Freshman year, my team has always come up short by one or two games. This conference is so tough.“My senior class keeps saying there is something different about this year, and I agree. We are truly a bonded team. I was relieved that finally we can show our conference and people who doubted us that we are capable of winning.”The College of Saint Rose finished the regular season as the top seeds in the Northeast-10 Conference with an overall 14-2-1 record.“For any team that wins NE10 Conference the road is not easy,” added Frazzoni, who has switched from her customary midfield role to wingback.“Any NE10 team can beat other teams in our region and the country. The hard part is getting out of our conference. My team set out this season to achieve three goals; win the regular season title, win the tournament playoff title and make it to a final four in the NCAA tournament.“Therefore, it is amazing that we have achieved our first goal.”Frazzoni and her team-mates will now look to achieve their next objective when they host eighth-seed Pace University in a Northeast-10 Championship quarter-final on Sunday.College of Saint Rose edged Pace University 2-1 in the previous meeting between the two in Albany in September.
