Perfectly poised: Ross Caesar on pro debut in Niagara Falls last month

Ross Caesar believes he has made the necessary adjustments to achieve his primary objective competing at the “Battle of Texas” in Irving, Texas today. The six-times Bermuda national bodybuilding champion has entered in the men’s classic physique division at the event, jointly run by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness and National Physique Committee, and being held at the Irving Convention Centre.Caesar is making his second appearance as a professional having made his debut at this level competing at last month’s IFBB Pro League in Niagara Falls, where he placed eleventh in the same division.“Initially, after the first show I was going to take a break, but I realised these pro shows were pretty close,” he said. “After assessing my physique and stuff, although I was okay, I wanted to bring a better package. So instead of waiting for next year to start all over, I decided to take this show on.“My expectations for this show is to obviously improve in quality with the package that I bring and after assessing my physique I think I’m in position to bring a much better package. “My major concerns were bringing more quality and detail in my legs and while there’s still work to be done I have that covered right now so hopefully all goes well. “This sport is fun and it comes down to the day of the show how everything falls into place.”While he is optimistic over his chances of achieving his goal at the event, Caesar, who earned an IFBB professional card competing at the Joe Weider’s Olympic Amateur South America in Colombia last February, knows he has his work cut out.“When I checked in, I saw right away some of the celebrity competitors and celebrity athletes from this year’s Olympia were already here; probably not competing, but they are here for this particular competition,” he added. “It’s a lot more competitors as well and close to 40 competitors in my particular class.“I realise it’s a much bigger competition than I anticipated, but you have to do the big ones if you want run with the lions. “That’s just what you have to do and hopefully everything goes well.“The focus is on improving and if I continue to improve physically and mentally then it’s only a matter of time before I get the results that I believe I deserve.”
