Five logos shortlisted for Team Bermuda competition

The Bermuda Olympic Association has shortlisted five logo designs from among 82 submitted in its Team Bermuda logo competition. The five designs selected will be put to a public vote, with the design collecting the most votes to be selected as the new Team Bermuda mark. The Team Bermuda logo is to be used as a commercial logo to complement the official National Olympic Committee emblem. It will be used on BOA sponsorship materials, and on athletes’ non-competition and nonceremonial kit at major international sports festivals. On January 14, the BOA invited submissions from Bermudian graphic designers, both professionals and students, based locally and overseas. A total of 82 designs were received from 39 designers by the 29 January deadline. The five shortlisted designs will be put to a public vote from 8 to 21 February 2020. The logos, along with background information about each design, will be placed on www.teambermudalogo.com, and displayed at the Bermuda National Gallery in Hamilton. The public will be able to vote for their favourite Team Bermuda logo online or in person at BNG. To help ensure objectivity in the vote, the names of the designers of each logo will be kept secret until after the winner is revealed. Brenda Dale, BOA vice president said: “We were overjoyed with the large number and high quality of submissions we received for the logo competition. “It’s clear that the many talented Bermudian designers who participated put a lot of thought, creativity and effort into their entries, and it was a challenging task to whittle the selection down to five choices. “That said, I think we have five very strong, very different options that our athletes would be proud to wear, and our sponsors would be proud to display. We’re looking forward to finding out what the public thinks.” The designer whose logo receives the largest number of votes will be declared the winner of the competition, and will receive a $1,000 travel voucher from the BOA.
