Still improving: Moore knocked more time off her own record (Photograph by Lawrence Trott) ¬ ¬

Madelyn Moore broke her own 50-metre backstroke record at the third Best of the Best swim meet on Saturday.

Representing Sharks Swim Club, Moore lowered her girls 15-to-16 record from 29.72sec to 29.61.

Moore, who won two gold medals at the Carifta Championships, is trying to qualify for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.

In recognition of her continued improvement, Moore has been awarded $3,178 as part of the National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Programme to attend the Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary in July and August.

Sam Williamson, Moore’s Sharks team-mate, also set a record today in the boys 11-12 50 breaststroke, lowering the time set by Keagan Wolley in December from 35.35 to 34.56.
