Gabby Pittman, Skyler Powell and Brian Desmond have reached the qualifying standards for the Carifta Championships, to be held in the Bahamas in April.

Pittman hit the second AAA time standard she required to compete in the competition, in the 100 freestyle, as well winning silver in the 50 at a meet in Ontario, Canada, at the weekend. She also hit personal bests in six of her ten events, and reached five finals.

Three other local swimmers were in action at the meet, with Desmond, Powell and Keagan Woolley all looking for qualifying times.

Desmond swam six individual events, reaching five finals and winning two golds and two silvers. He hit the AAA time in the 100 freestyle and 200.

Powell made the final on all of her events, winning one silver and one bronze, hitting AAA times in four events: the 50, 100, 200 and 400 freestyle. She also broke Emma Harvey’s record in the 400 in 4min 45.43sec.

Woolley also reached five finals, setting seven personal bests and winning two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

He set a new record in the 50 breast in 34.24, taking the record from Ethan Daley.

His 50 freestyle time was 26.86, which gave him one AAA and puts him in position to get his second qualifying time next weekend at a meet in Bermuda.
