Bermuda’s combined teams have claimed 16 medals, including eight gold, at the Carifta Swimming Championships in Barbados.

On day two of the competition yesterday, Elan Daley added to the silver and bronze she won on Saturday with a pair of golds in the girls 13-14 200 metres freestyle and the 100 backstroke.

She also won a bronze in the girls 13-14 50 butterfly in a time of 29.59. Her time in the 200 freestyle was 2:06.13 and 1:07.57 in the 100 backstroke. Her brother, Elijah, was also among the medals, winning the boys 11-12 100 backstroke in 1:09.95.

Also claiming gold yesterday were Logan Watson-Brown in the girls 15-17 200 freestyle in 2:07.86 and Giada Dudley-Pun in the girls 11-12 400 individual medley in 5:38.82.

Sam Williamson won silver in the boys 13-14 200 freestyle in 2:01.91, while Imojen Judd picked up a bronze in the girls 11-12 100 backstroke in 1:12.84.

The girls 11-12 team representing Bermuda-Associated Group, or BERAG, captured silver in the 4x100 medley relay in 4:52.93. Bella Howes swam the anchor leg in 1:04.39. She was joined by Judd (1:13.42), Dudley-Pun (1:12.29) and Pippa Charleson (1:13.83).

On the first day of competition, the girls 11-12 team representing Bermuda-Associated Group in the 4x100 freestyle relay won gold in 4:20.11. Runners-up Bahamas were more than 6.5 seconds behind in 4:26.68.

Dudley-Pun, who earlier captured gold in the 200 breaststroke, swam the anchor leg in 1:03.82 and was joined by Charleson (1:06.16), Howes (1:03.86) and Judd (1:06.27).

Dudley-Pun’s breaststroke win, in 2:52.74, was joined at the top of the medal podium by Williamson in the boys 13-14 200 breaststroke (2:29.15) and Judd in the girls 11-12 50 backstroke (32.38).

Elan Daley’s 31.45 in the girls 13-14 50 backstroke was 14 hundredths of a second shy of gold in headlining the three silver medals won on Saturday.

Also finishing second was Elijah in the 11-12 butterfly (1:05.50) and Watson-Brown in the girls 15-17 100 butterfly (1:06.55).

Elan Daley’s first medal of the day was a bronze in the girls 13-14 200 breaststroke in 2:52.72. Later in the day, she also placed first in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 2:06.13.

Brandon Adkins just missed out on a medal in the boys 11-12 200 freestyle when he finished fourth in a time of 2:13.31.

There were a number of other close calls with four more fourth-place finishes: Elijah Daley (2:51.01) in the boys 11-12 200 breaststroke, Watson-Brown (30.67) in the girls 15-17 50 backstroke, Elan Daley (1:06.21) in the girls 13-14 100 butterfly and the Bermuda-Associated Group girls 13-14 4x100 freestyle relay team of Taylor White (1:03.13), Josephine Duerden (1:04.55), Emma Kittleson (1:04.35) and Elan Daley (59.13).

The contingent headed by national coach Ben Smith have compiled 227 points in total — 129 for Bermuda-Associated Group and 98 for Bermuda — will be back action today on the final day of the competition.
