Junior players hit the court

Worthy winners: The Bermuda Squash Racquet Association held their end of season Junior Squash Tournament

The Bermuda Squash Racquet Association held their end of season Junior Squash Tournament on Saturday, with high-quality action on show throughout the day.

Of the different age-group categories, Matthew Elliott was crowned the boys under-17 champion after overcoming Alex Southern in a hard-fought final.

Southern, who had beaten Graham Moss 11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, to reach the final took the first game 11-5, before Elliott rallied to win the next three, 12-10,11-8, 11-5.

In the girls under-17 category, Izzy White overcame Hailey Moss 11-7. 11-6, 12-10. There was also joy for White in the girls under-15 category, where she once again got the better of Moss on court to win 11-7, 11-6, 12-10. In the plate final, Siena Bonanno beat Sofie Schrum 9-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-8.

In the boys under-15 age group, Graham Moss overcame Daniel Ringer in straight games, 11-5, 11-3, 11-9, while the plate final between Nicholas Bonanno and Ethan Lacey went the way of the former with a walkover result.

Ethan Rosorea proved victorious in the boys under-13 category, where he beat Eli Carpol 6-11, 11-6, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6. The plate final was won by Bert Stevenson who overcame Carter Bernard 12-10, 11-2, 11-4.

In the girls under-13s, Tyler Komposch beat Cece Robinson 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 11-8, while Somers Stevenson beat Brooke Castree 11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3 in the plate final.

Stevenson was also victorious in the girls under-11 age group, beating Issey Robinson 11-3, 11-3, 13-11.

Owen Rosorea won the boys under-11 age group beating William Frith 11-1, 11-4, 11-6, while Ray Foster won the boys under-9 category with a 11-7, 11-8, 12-10 win over Kylen Richard.

In the under-9 girls tournament, Leilani Carpol beat Nora Ferris 11-4, 11-5, 11-9.
