Phillips loses in second round
Daniel Phillips lost in the second round of the main draw of the Sánchez-Casal Youth Under-14 Cup in Barcelona.
The 14-year-old was beaten 6-0, 6-3 by Alejo Sánchez Quilez yesterday.
Phillips beat Mattia Salvator, of Italy, 7-6, 6-4 and Maxime Salesses, of France, 6-1, 6-3 in the qualifying rounds before defeating Sidney Huet, of Holland, 6-0, 6-3 in the first round of the main draw.
In the doubles competition yesterday, Phillips and Niklas Hoffman, of Germany, lost 6-2, 6-0 to Romanian pair David Gheorghe and Cristian Marton in the main draw.
