Gilbert Institute shuts early
A public primary school has been forced to close for the day after a power outage.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said that the decision had been made to dismiss pupils from Gilbert Institute, in Paget.
She added: “Department of Education staff are working closely with Belco to confirm a timeline for repairs.
“The school principal, staff as well as parents have been informed of the closure.
“The school has executed protocols to dismiss students under the direction of the DoE.”
The spokeswoman said that information on when the school would reopen “will be forthcoming”.
