Bermuda powerboats ruled the waves in Florida on Sunday with Nuff Said winning the XInsurance Great Lakes Grand Prix and Team Bermuda finishing third to secure the Super Stock National Championship title.

Starting alongside each other in the water off Clearwater Beach, the two Bermuda boats made blistering starts and were locked together for much of the first straight.

But it was Nuff Said driver Luis Martins and throttle man Nick Imprescia, who pulled clear of their compatriots to win by a huge margin.

Team Bermuda was involved in a tight battle for second and just had to give best to Celsius in the final straight. But the consolation was knowing that they had done enough to secure the national championship.

After taking the checkered flag, Imprescia was keen to give credit to his team and the support from Bermuda.

“I will tell you one word for the whole thing ‘Teamwork’,” Imprescia said.

“All the guys in the shop, all the guys in the pits and all the people that help us in an out of the boat. Thank you team.

“Thanks to Bermuda and all the guys listening and watching. Thanks to all of you for supporting us. We appreciate every one of you and we love you.

“The entire team has been flawless and I’m so appreciative of the people that support me and to be able to provide the results that this team has truly deserved.

“Now we are the point where we can continue to build on what we’ve got and I’m so thankful for this team, this opportunity and Bermuda.”
