The Bermuda Sloop Foundation turned to “piracy” for a good cause this weekend.

Notable members of the community were taken hostage as part of the Pirates of Bermuda 2017 fundraiser, with the public able to donate funds towards saving or sinking them.

Among those taking the plunge into Hamilton Harbour from the Spirit of Bermuda were reigning Miss Bermuda, Alyssa Rose, Deputy Governor Ginny Ferson, Sylvan Richards, the Minister of Environment and Planning, and Reverend Nicholas Dill, Anglican Bishop of Bermuda.

America’s Cup teams were also represented, along with the island’s private schools.

All funds raised will go towards the education and character development programme on board Spirit of Bermuda.
