Rockfish refused the Piranhas bait and by virtue of a 4-0 win have regained top spot in the Fishbowl Bowling League as Wahoo slipped back into a two-way
Barry DeCouto and Joe Correia led the Marlins against Porgies with the first and second high series, 575 and 571, as Marj Correia bowled the women's top game of 201 to win all four points. Porgies' Quinton Mallory led them with a 482 series.
Wahoo showed they were the bigger fish as they took three of the four points from Barracuda. Doug Hines was tops, bowling a 570 series and 205 game to claim the third and first honours. Cathee Tumbridge added the women's top series of 518 while for Barracuda John Maycock led the effort with a 501.
The Angel Fish were spirited on by Oscar Andrade to win 3-1 against Dolphins as Sharks were showing their teeth and took away the Cow Pollies' stripes with a 3-1 victory.
Snappers and Hinds finished deadlocked in a draw despite the efforts of Ann Mitchell's second high women's series of 515 for Snappers.
Tuna beat Mackerel 3-1 in the other match as Clifford Maxwell led the winners with a 556 series as Marie Frith supported with the women's third high series of 514.
Perfect Combination increased their lead in the Mixed Classic Bowling League to nine points following their 13-7 win over Get Togethers.
Winnette Lottimore led the way with the women's second high game of 203 and third high series of 544. For Get Togethers it was Reggie Saunders with a 535 series.
Defending champions Bermuda Glass were beaten 12-8 by Pro Staff with Staff's Darnell Raynor leading the way with the women's second high series and a pair of 202 games. Kathy Christopher responded with a 535 series.
Pro Staff rolled the night's top series of 2,088 while Bermuda Glass were only 24 pins back in third spot.
East End Asphalt, with Peaches Perinchief rolling the women's top game of 214 and top series of 588, defeated Amflites 12-8. Joe Correia was tops for the losers with a second high series of 566 and second high game of 223. Amflites also had the night's top game of 758 in a losing cause.
Flagler Street Gang took advantage of a short-handed Us Until with an 18-2 win while turning in the night's second high series of 2,072 and second high game of 747. Robert Flood was their top bowler with the men's third high series of 557.
The remaining match Colbert Pearman bowl the night's top game of 255 and top series of 616 but it was all in vain as his team, Terrible Four, went down in defeat at the hands of Four Star Pizza 13-7. Felicia Stevens was tops for the Pizza team with a delivery of 530.
MOTOCROSS SCR Action in the 80cc class of the Pepsi BACU National Championships at Coney Island is heating up with national 80cc champion Kemo Simons coming under pressure from second-year rider Michael Burgess and Chris Maxwell.
Burgess got good starts in all the races and held off the competition for a while as he split wins with Simons and Maxwell. Maxwell took the win in the last race, which broke a three-way tie as Simons finished second, Burgess third and Jamell Hassell fourth.
Devin Moss had three wins over Kyle Constable to win the 125 cc Class. Kevin Walton was the lone 250cc rider.
The 250 and 125 B class saw the champions, Robert Smith in the 250, and Justin Belboda in the 125, stamp their authority on the competition. Smith had three wins over Duprey Joell.
Aaron Pace, the 125cc champion, has seen his move to B class racing not go smoothly as he was only able to to win one out of three races with Belboda winning two. Garry Simons finished third overall with a second and two thirds.
ATHLETICS ATH There will be an 800 metres race at 6 p.m. and a 3,000 metres event at 6.30 tonight at the National Stadium. Everyone is invited to participate. Next Wednesday at the same times there will be a 1,500 metres to be followed by a 5,000 metres race.
