Bermuda registered one new insurance company last month, the Bermuda Monetary Authority said yesterday.

The creation of Breakwater Insurance brought the total number of firms registered to the end of August to 36 — 24 insurers and reinsurers in all classes, plus 12 intermediaries.

The BMA reviewed six insurance applications in August, with one approved, four pending and one where the application was “insufficient for review”.
