Sand art: entrants hard at work in 2014’s competition
The annual Bermuda Sand Castle competition is fast approaching, and some young campers have already been given a leg-up.
A group of students from the Encore Summer Experience arts camp and Camp Head Start, between the ages of 4 and 7, were recently given tips of the trade by defending champion Hannah Emmerson, who introduced the students to the basics of tower building, detail carving and “dribble castle” techniques.
A series of further workshops is set to be held on Horseshoe Bay beach in the lead-up to the September 3 contest, with volunteers and organisers for the event giving assistance and advice on August 27, September 1 and September 3.
Each of the public workshops is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
