Winn named CIO of Scottish Re
has appointed Gregory P. Winn as senior vice president, treasurer and chief investment officer. In this newly-created position, Mr. Winn will consolidate the management of Scottish Re's group-wide treasury, corporate finance and investment management functions that had been previously shared by several group executives. He will report to Dean E. Miller, executive Vice president and chief financial officer.
"We are pleased to have an individual with Greg's distinguished background in the life insurance industry join Scottish Re's executive management team," said Scott E. Willkomm, chief executive officer of Scottish Re.
"His demonstrated success in building and leading world-class treasury, corporate finance and investment teams in both large and small organisations will enable Scottish Re to meaningfully enhance the management of its growing balance sheet."
Mr. Winn's insurance and banking career spans over 20 years, most recently as Vice President and Treasurer of One Beacon Insurance Group, a position he assumed in 2003.
From 1988 to 2003, he held several positions with John Hancock Financial Services Company, one of the leading life insurers in the United States. During his tenure, Mr. Winn was a member of the steering committee that managed the demutualisation and initial public offering of John Hancock. He joined John Hancock's business planning and financial analysis group in 1988, and became second vice president and head of that unit in 1996.
Mr. Winn holds an AB degree in economics from Duke University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. As chief investment officer, Mr. Winn succeeds Thomas A. McAvity, Jr. who has been promoted to the newly created role of chief investment strategist.

In his new role, he is responsible for the underwriting and marketing of a broad spectrum of coverages targeted at Fortune 1000 companies in North America.
Prior to joining AWAC, he was assistant vice president and Western Canadian regional professional lines manager at Chubb Insurance Company of Canada. He holds a BComm from the University of Alberta, a Certificate in Risk Management from the Global Risk Management Institute, and a Diploma in Law from the University of Kent in Canterbury, England.vice president general casualty, is from New York and has been with AWAC since October, 2003 as assistant vice president, general casualty. In his new role, he is responsible for all the North American casualty business that flows through London as well as the management of his team of three professionals in the underwriting of coverage for pharmaceutical, medical products, consumer products, and public entity not-for-profit exposures. Prior to joining AWAC, he was director and assistant vice president in the Global Risk Management department at Munich-American Risk Partners, New York. He has a BSc in Business Economics from State University of New York at Oneonta, New York.
Bermudianwas promoted to assistant vice president property after spending three years in the property department. He has been an underwriter sinceat AWAC since July, 2003. Prior to joining AWAC, he worked in New York for Marsh USA, Inc. as assistant vice president of International Specialty Operations. He has a BA in Western European History from Wheaton College, Massachusetts, and is currently working towards ARe designation. has been appointed assistant vice president, Energy Property. Originally from England and married to a Bermudian, he spent the past two years in the energy division of the Property Department. He has been an underwriter at AWAC since November, 2003. As AVP Energy, he is now responsible for maintaining the successful performance of the Department in the underwriting of Oil & Gas, Chemical/Petrochemical, and Utilities risks for domestic and international accounts. Prior to joining AWAC, he worked in Bermuda at as a commercial underwriter. He holds the Insurance Institute of America's General Certificate of Insurance and the Bermuda Insurance Diploma from the Bermuda Insurance Institute and is currently working towards CPCU designation.
Bermudian has been appointed senior underwriter, professional lines after three years in the Professional Lines Department. He was promoted to underwriter in November, 2002. He has an AD in Business Administration, Insurance concentration, from Bermuda College and is currently working towards his RPLU designation.
Bermudian has been appointed senior underwriter, Property Treaty Reinsurance. She started with AWAC three years ago as a reinsurance underwriter. She has a BBA (Insurance) and MS in Risk Management from The College of Insurance, New York. She also has an ARe designation and is currently pursuing her CPCU designation.
Bermudian has been promoted to underwriter, Professional Lines after three years as an assistant underwriter for AWAC. Prior to joining AWAC, he worked as a Financial Advisor in Houston, Texas. He has a BSc in Economics from McMaster University, Ontario, and is a qualified RPLU and has a Series 7 license.has been promoted to underwriter, Professional Lines after spending two years with the company as an assistant underwriter. Originally from Calgary, Canada, she is married to a Bermudian and holds a BSc in Biology and BESc in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario. She has achieved the General Insurance Certificate from the Bermuda Insurance Institute and is working towards her CPCU.
Bermudian has been promoted to assistant underwriter, Professional Lines after two years as an Underwriting Assistant. She has a BBA from St. Mary's University, Halifax, and is currently working towards her CPCU designation.
Bermudian has been promoted to assistant underwriter, Property. She joined the Company last year as Underwriting Assistant. She has a BBA from Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax, and aspires to pursue professional designation.
Bermudian has been appointed senior underwriting assistant, Treaty Reinsurance after spending three years with the company as underwriting assistant. She is currently working towards ARe designation.
Bermudian has been promoted to senior underwriting assistant, General Casualty, after three years as underwriting assistant. She is planning on pursuing CPCU designation after she completes her training for Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) certification.
Bermudian has been promoted to senior claims analyst after spending nearly two years as a claims assistant. She holds several business-related certificates from Bermuda College and is currently working towards AIC designation
