New play for City Hall
Following her successful series of ?Shis Got Issues? plays, author/director Patricia (Pogson) Nisbett is penning a new series, ?Phat Girls Caf?, the first play of which will be launched at City Hall Theatre next month. ?Phat? incidentally stands for ?Pretty Hot and Together?).
The overall plot follows the lives of six, buxom voluptuous women who own a local restaurant. In the first play, ?Wa Got What You Want?, they let the skinny world know that they?re alive, well, and ready to vigorously defend their curves. This time the action focuses on two of the characters, Cindy and Mo. Cindy, in what she thought was a stable relationship, is shocked to find evidence of her boyfriend?s infidelity by way of size six underwear, and resolves to confront her enemy. Mo is a devious divorce?e whose wealthy ex-husband becomes ill and asks her to return to live with him, but his size six girlfriend still lives there. At issue for the characters is weight ? petite versus voluptuous ? with the overall message being that, no matter what size a person is, it is what is in the heart that counts.
?Wa Got What You Want? is presented by THE Company theatre group and directed by Mrs. Nisbett. The cast will include Nadanja Bailey and Denise Whitter as well as several newcomers.
Performance dates are November 6 to 9. For full details of times see today?s Bermuda Calendar. Tickets ($25) are available from E.R. Aubrey jewellery outlets, City Hall box office between 12 noon and 2 p.m., and cast members. Sponsors are Clos de Bois wine, Cellular One, Lindo?s, Logic Communications and Gorham?s.
