Two seriously hurt in bike accidents

Two motorcyclists suffered serious injuries in separate accidents at Dockyard and Warwick yesterday.

A male motorcyclist received what is thought to be serious internal injuries after he was in collision with a truck on South Road near Warwick Gas Station at 8 a.m.. No more details were available.

And a woman, who was also involved in a crash with a truck at Pender Road at the entrance to Dockyard at 1.05 p.m., suffered undisclosed injuries, according to Police.

Works and Engineering is carrying out work at the site to make Pender Road one way following claims from bus drivers - who went on strike - that they passed too close to one another on the narrow road.

The department is upgrading Freeport Road to make both thoroughfares one way to alleviate the problem.

Police announced yesterday that Pender Road will return to two way traffic while Works and Engineering work on Freeport Road. It is not known if the decision was connected to yesterday's accident.

Anyone with information about yesterday's accidents should call PC Bryan Paul on 234 1010.
