Jewellers offers custom designs
Women who want to look like divas can now sample the selection of jewellery offered at 2 Gem Treasures specialising in custom design.
Toni-Lea Curtis and Teresa Manders, friends for over 20 years, often talked about operating their own business together but decided in April to go ahead and open a custom design jewellery business.
?When people go out, a lot of them like wearing sophisticated accessories but we wanted to offer a wider variety of costume jewellery which is not outrageously priced,? Ms Manders said.
?We look for more elegant but trendy pieces and we want to cater to both young and mature women.?
The two entrepreneurs have hosted several jewellery parties since May and have received a keen response to the selection of jewellery they have put on display but are presently looking for commercial space to expand the current line of jewellery.
?On April 22, Dale Butler put on Warwick Festival up under the Rubber Tree. We set up our table and business was booming. Every Saturday we were there and women were looking forward to seeing us and asking if we will be there the following week,? Ms Curtis said.
2 Gems Treasures carries a line of exclusive items Cubic Zirconia, Tiffany inspired pieces as well as Ophrah O, as well as an assortment of accessories.
?We have a lot of confidence in each other and we are the best of friends. To go into business you must be sure of yourself,? Ms Curtis said.
Ms Manders is married with two small boys and currently works for HSBC/Bank of Bermuda, while Ms Curtis is employed as an outside agent at Meyer Travel and as a medical dispatcher at the Fire Service Dispatch Centre.
?We try not too bring in too many of the same items, so that everybody has a unique piece of what we are offering,? Ms Curtis said.
?Its takes a lot of time to research and look for special items and think about making sure have a good selection and the quality of the jewellery meets our standards,? she added.
