Coles to speak on insurance disruption
A Bermudian expert in insurance is to speak at a major conference in New York next week.
Michael Coles, the chief innovation officer at Blue Marble Microinsurance, will discuss new ideas shaking up the insurance industry in the keynote address to global institutional investors at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Insurance Forum on Monday.
Mr Coles will describe how more change will take place in the marketplace over the next three years than has happened in the previous 300 years and how capital is being brought closer to the source of risk and re-patterning the value chain of risk.
He will also discuss “just-in-time” insurance, peer-to-peer insurance and new distribution channels being developed by the most creative firms in the sector.
Blue Marble was set up last year by a group of top companies to better supply the developing world with insurance.
Mr Coles, who is based in New York, also advises global insurance firms on corporate finance and growth strategies.
He was also a key speaker at the NYC InsurTech conference held in New York earlier this year.
Mr Coles was a Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies signature scholar and holds an MSc in Finance.
