Goater hits the right note
The now legendary song `Feed the Goat' is to be reissued in tribute to the Manchester City striker.
Goater plays his last game for the Blues on Sunday at Maine Road after announcing he is to quit the club in the summer.
Now Manchester alternative rock band Monomania are to re-release a five track CD featuring, among others, Feed the Goat and Big Bad Bermudan (sic).
Speaking to the Royal Gazette, lead singer Ricky Cummings explained how the songs came about.
"I am a musician from Manchester and I decided I wanted to record something for the fans of Man City," he said. "Shaun Goater is such a crowd favourite and now a Maine Road legend so I recorded and released the CD on my own Kippax Records Label."
The record then got national recognition on one of the country's most popular soccer shows.
"I was then approached by the Sky Sports show `Soccer a.m.' and asked if I would let them use the music on their show," said Cummings "So of course I agreed to let them use the music."
Cummings said the songs had been given Goater's seal of approval.
"I met Shaun a while back and he thanked my for making him a legend and writing the `Feed The Goat' chant," he said.
