A Longford Road, Warwick resident reported that someone gained entry into her home between 8.30 a.m. and 1.20 p.m. last Wednesday.

The culprit ransacked a chest of drawers and searched through a handbag before stealing an undisclosed quantity of cash, prescription sunglasses, a set of keys and other personal belongings.

The occupants of a Horseshoe Road, Southampton apartment awoke in the early morning to find out they too had been visited by a thief.

The couple fell asleep sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight, but were awakened around 5 a.m. to discover someone had stolen a Marantaz amplifier, an Aiwa CD player, a white crash helmet and other miscellaneous items.

And a house-sitting arrangement took a turn for the worse after a Hitachi VCR was stolen from the home.

The Southampton residents reported the theft took place sometime between Saturday and Tuesday while the house-sitter was minding the apartment.

The house-sitter told Police he returned to the home around 11 a.m. on Tuesday and noticed that the VCR was missing.

SNEAKER THIEF STRIKES HAMILTON STORE CRM Sneaker thief strikes Hamilton store Police are searching for a tricky sneaker thief who struck a Hamilton store last Wednesday.

Sports R Us officials contacted Police after the male suspect entered the store, asked to try on a pair of Reebok DMX basketball sneaker boots, and stole them while the attendant was in the stockroom.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, was described as approximately five-feet, eight-inches tall with a medium-brown complexion and short hair.

He was wearing a black peak cap, a beige and black nylon jacket, and dark baggy trousers.

The sneakers were white with sky blue at the top and grey soles.

CYCLISTS PLANS TO PRESS CHARGES AGAINST DRIVER CYC Cyclist plans to press charges against driver A bicycle rider has informed Police he will be pressing charges against the driver of a van who allegedly forced him to take evasive action.

A Police spokesperson said the incident took place around 5.30 p.m. on Monday when the complainant was cycling west along The Lane in Paget.

Just as he was approaching Strawberry Hill, the cyclist claimed he was forced to avoid colliding with the company van after the driver exited at the junction and continued toward the city.

Hayward's Supermart owner Paul Hayward wishes to expand the Middle Road building on its south-east corner to create a deli/sandwich shop.

He also intends to enclose the south-facing walkway and create a separate entrance and exit for vehicles in order to ease parking at peak times.

The Development Applications Board reserved for its final approval all details relating to design and external appearance of the building and landscaping of the site.

FUNERAL TO TAKE PLACE OF FORMER MAJOR OBT Funeral to take place of former Major The funeral of a former Major in the Bermudian Salvation Army is to take place in Canada today.

Thelma Elizabeth Richardson, who served with the Army's White Hill Corps, died of cancer last Friday at the age of 64.

Major Richardson, born in Bermuda in 1934, leaves a number of close friends and relatives on the Island and in Canada.

She spent her Salvation Army career working with children and did not retire from service until last August, when she was battling her illness. Mourners will gather for the service at the Glenmore Temple Salvation Army in Calgary, Alberta at 1 p.m.
