D&J Construction announce promotions

Mr. Terry Mullan was promoted to assistant general manager from general superintendent while Mr. Tony Belchior, Mr. Carl Johnson and Mr. Joe Mendonca were promoted to senior superintendents from foreman, the company said.

Mr. Terry Mullan was promoted to assistant general manager from general superintendent while Mr. Tony Belchior, Mr. Carl Johnson and Mr. Joe Mendonca were promoted to senior superintendents from foreman, the company said.

Mr. Mullan joined D&J in August, 1994 and has been responsible for the construction of the Overbay Project on Pitts Bay Road and the Richmond House phase II project on Par-la-Ville Road.

He has also been involved with several other D&J projects in a supervisory role.

While attending college, Mr. Mullan started his career as an apprentice draftsman with Marshall Bernardo Partnership.

He also worked with Burland, Conyers & Marirea Ltd. (BC&M) as a junior foreman.

With that company he assumed positions of increasing responsibility including; superintendent, estimator, chief estimator and vice president and, in 1982, was appointed to BC&M's board of directors.

Prior to joining D&J, he was with Bermuda Tech Limited Building Systems and BTS Construction Co.

As assistant general manager, Mr. Mullan will be in charge of all building construction field activities for the company.

Mr. Belchior joined D&J in 1968 as a labourer and progressed to Top Grade Mason in 1979, foreman in 1981 and senior foreman in 1988.

Previously involved in a group of prominent local projects, he is now completing a large residential estate in Fairylands.

Mr. Johnson joined D&J in 1977 after completing work at the US Navy barracks at Southampton, the Southampton Princess, construction in Grand Bahama, and two years in hotel construction in England.

As foreman with D&J, Mr. Johnson has many renowned projects to his credit.

Currently, he is the senior superintendent at North Hall, Bermuda College Stonington.

Mr. Mendonca joined the company in 1979 as a top grade mason.

Through experience with several D&J projects, he became senior foreman taking on further responsibilities on more complex projects.

The D&J Group includes; D&J Excavating & Landscaping Services Ltd., managed by president Mr. Joe Sousa, Bermuda Ceilings Ltd., managed by Mr. Michael Masters, D&J Construction Company Ltd., managed by general manager Mr. Philip Pastore Jr., property management company SHA Holdings, managed by directors Mr. Danny Fagundo and Mr. John Pereira, and Floor Coverings Unlimited, managed by director Ms Lynn Brady.

D&J Construction Co. was incorporated in 1967. The four subsidiaries were formed between 1978 and 1991.
