Mrs. T?s Victorian Tea Room has re-opened for business and customers can now enjoy a relaxing cup of tea and experience old fashioned Bermudian hospitality.

Mrs. T?s Victorian Tea Room is located at the Willowbank Resort in Somerset.

?The original Tea Room was the life work of Penny Terceira. In 1997 she opened the Tea Room opposite Port Royal Golf Course and this was where she housed her tea collection,? Willowbank general manager Terri Allison said.

Ms Terceira had been collecting tea paraphernalia, china cups and saucers, silver tea spoons, and a variety of decorative items associated with tea service.?

Ms Allison said she had been taking her daughters for afternoon tea almost all their lives to Mrs. T?s and formed a special fondness for the Tea Room.

?During the summer of this year we went to the Tea Room and we were told Penny would be closing the Tea Room and tears were shed.?

?It was one of those of places in Bermuda where you automatically slowed down and returned to a time when the Island was slower and gentler.?

Ms Allison said that setting up the Tea Room at Willowbank would be a perfect fit for the resort because it is known for its old fashioned Bermudian hospitality.

Apart from a wide selection of tea?s, Mrs. T?s has Bermudian specialties such as codfish cakes and Hoppin John, and a selection of soups, salads, filled croissant sandwiches, desserts and other cold and hot beverages.

Almost all the tea made at the restaurant is made in a tea pot and served in a tea pot. High tea is also available served with a three tiered cake plate presented on antique linens and with china and silver service.

?We have kept the doll room ? a collection of antique dolls ? with tea sets, miniature and otherwise with a doll theme, pictures, puzzles and needlepoint designs.?

?We have also kept the royal theme with the theme of British royalty featuring memorabilia. This is part of the Bermudian colonial attachment because there was always an attachment to Britain.?

?When I approached Penny about the possibility of continuing the Tea Shop in some form at Willowbank she was happy to work along with to make that transition happen smoothly.?

Ms Terceira continues come to work at the Tea Room, providing advice on decorating and ensuring the atmosphere of the room is consistent with the original venue.

?Ms Terceira is pleased with the end product of the Tea Room at Willowbank and satisfied to see something she worked on her whole life continue.?

Mrs. T?s Victorian Tea Room at the Willowbank Resort in Somerset is open from Tuesday to Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
