Celebrated musicians Taylor Rankin and Dwight Hart are set to perform and host workshops in a special event at Bermuda College this month.

Mr Rankin, his violin Leroy, and Mr Hart have been making a name for themselves in the international music industry, recording with or opening for artists including Beyonce, Wyclef, Mary J Blige, Erykah Badu, Heather Nova and Collie Buddz.

The team will perform and host an interactive discussion in the college’s North Lecture Hall on March 29, before leading a series of workshops on March 30 and 31.

Attendees can learn about what motivates the two performers, and the significant people in their lives who encourage them to be the best at what they do, the sacrifices each had to make while honing their respective musical crafts and how music is consistently transforming performance and production, with new developments in technology.

Shawn DeSheilds, coordinator and senior lecturer of marketing at the college, said he was thrilled to book the performers as part of the school’s semi-annual lecture series.

“I wanted them to headline the spring lecture series, to inspire potential local musicians with stories of their world travels and life musical experiences,” he said.

“It’s not too often that music students and others interested in music get the opportunity to hear and network with such respected musical talents. Taylor and Dwight have performed all over the world, and as Bermudians, they have a strong desire to give back to their country. And both are just as excited to come as we are to have them.

“We’re really hyped about it and invite people to sign up early.”
