Chartered director designation for Gillett

Chartered director: Roger Gillett

The chairman of the Bermuda branch of the International Institute of Directors has gained a chartered director designation.

Insurance industry veteran Roger Gillett, who took over as chairman three years ago, won the accolade after completing an IoD certificate and diploma in company direction, as well as a professional review.

Mr Gillett said: “Valuable knowledge and skills are acquired in each stage.

“I firmly believe that, in these times of heightened attention to corporate governance, every director should do all he or she can do to maximise his or her contribution to the success of the company or organisation on whose board he or she sits.”

Mr Gillett added: “Bermuda has an opportunity to distinguish itself as a centre of excellence as it relates to corporate governance, but this will only be realised if we, as all directors, are prepared to learn and progress.”

Further information on the range of courses available can be obtained by e-mailing iodbda.education@gmail.com or call 336-2447.

The IoD was founded in London in 1903 and gained a Royal charter three years later.

The organisation has extensive experience in developing directors and boards in Britain and internationally.
