Nearly 900 hundred enthusiastic young runners showcased their budding talents before a large gathering that attended the Telford Electric Magic Mile at the National Stadium at the weekend.

Unlike the previous year the weather this time around was more suitable for running, and the participants took full advantage to put on a dazzling show for the spectators in the stand.

Cal Simons, the race director, said the race was a “huge success”.

“It was a fantastic event and the kids had a good time,” he said. “It was a great event and the weather worked for us.

“We achieved exactly what we tried to do with regards to the events and we are extremely pleased with the support from Telford Industries.

“It’s been a beautiful 31-year relationship with them, and we only hope to continue to build on it.”

Speaking on behalf of the event’s title sponsor, Heather Telford said: “This is such a successful event every year and this is how our company gives back to the community.

“We had nearly 900 participants and we are proud of that and thankful to Pacers Track Club and all of our sub-sponsors that participated.”

The event included runners in seven different age groups ranging from four to 15 involved in 13 races contested over various distances.
