A large Doberman Pinscher was killed after it ran out into the path of an truck.

The incident took place yesterday on Somerset Road, Sandys Parish, outside Webb's Variety Store.

The truck, a Nissan hatchback was travelling north when the brown dog ran out in front, causing a collision.

The dog, who had apparently escaped from its kennel, had its back broken.

PARKED CAR BURGLED CRM Parked car burgled A thief stole about $25 from a car parked at Bull's Head car park in Hamilton.

Police spokeswoman Evelyn James Barnett said it was believed the thief removed some coins from the car on Monday and then returned the next day to take the rest of the money.

Thieves also struck ASB offices at the Airport.

The complainant had placed a brand new JVC camera, which he had received as a gift, underneath a desk on Friday before leaving the Island.

Upon his return on Monday, he discovered the camera was missing, a Police spokesperson said.

Along with the camera two rechargeable batteries, four video film cassettes and a battery charger were taken.

Police were also looking into a break-in at a construction site on Richmond Road. Someone gained entry to the site on Tuesday night and removed a GE "Spacemaker XL'' microwave oven.

DERELICT BUILDING BLAZE FIR Derelict building blaze Early yesterday morning fire spread through the roof of a derelict building in Prospect, Devonshire causing $12,000 worth of damage.

Fire Department spokesperson Lt. Jon Thompson said ten firefighters in two trucks responded to the blaze near Schools Drive around 1.30 a.m. yesterday.

POLICE ON EXERCISE POL Police on exercise Police yesterday issued advisory to the public, especially Southampton residents, of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) training exercise now underway.

The exercise, which began on Tuesday, will continue tomorrow at Morgan's Point, Southampton between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

As part of the exercise blank rounds of ammunition will be fired and "distraction devices'' (bangs//flashes) will be used periodically.

GAS LEAK PLUGGED FIR Gas leak plugged Fire fighters rushed to Bermuda Waterworks yesterday morning when a gas cylinder leak was reported at the Parson's Road, Devonshire site.

Seven personnel and two appliances responded to the call which came in at 10.45 a.m., reported Bermuda Fire Services' spokesman Lt. Jon Thompson.

They arrived to find that staff had evacuated the building after a faulty connection was found on a propane cylinder being replaced on a fork lift. The faulty connection caused gas to leak out.

The fixture on the cylinder was replaced and the only loss was the gas which leaked out of the cylinder, said Lt. Thompson.

HOTELIER RELEASED CRM TOU Hotelier released Kidnappers released the Mexican regional vice-president of the ten-hotel Princess chain early on Wednesday morning.

And an unharmed Vincent Carrozza, 47, of New York, was at his home in Acapulco last night, reported the Associated Press.

Mr. Carrozza was abducted on December 9 while on his way to work at Acapulco's Princess Hotel. Ten heavily armed men dressed like federal police agents dragged him from his car and forced him into a truck.
