Musician Mike Hind was lucky enough not only to have a face-to-face encounter with the great David Bowie but also to receive a compliment from him.

Bowie and Iman went to see Jabulani Repertory Company’s production of Private Lives by Noel Coward at the Gazebo Lounge at Hamilton Princess.

Mr Hind, right, recalled: “During intermission, they kind of hid around the corner, near the stage door.

“I had come out to ... partake of the facilities ... and gave them a quick smile when I saw them, not immediately realising who they were. On the way back in, after smacking my forehead and thinking, ‘Holy crap! That’s David Bowie!’ they stopped me to chat for a second about the show and our set change. They were charming and sweet and complimentary. Annette was told she had great legs — and did! And he told me I had a cute butt, to which Iman agreed.

“I did not, but it was very kind of them to say so. He had an amazing smile that made you feel like he was genuinely pleased to meet you. Good people.”
