Paying attention to detail

As part of the Little Venice Group summer training programme, Tamaki Smith and Adrian Binns are learning the ins and outs of being a waitress and a bus boy in busy upscale restaurants. Tamaki is currently employed at the Harbour Front Restaurant as a waitress. ?I saw it in and need a job to earn money to buy a bike plus the experience.?

She said it is hard and a lot of work. A typical day for Tamaki starts with cleaning utensils, helping to set up tables, taking customers dishes after they are finished eating, bringing them bread and water and serving food.

However, the one thing she isn?t allowed to do is serve alcohol because she is a minor.

She said the most rewarding part about the job is receiving her pay cheque at the end of the week. Tamaki said there is nothing difficult about her job and would recommend it to othrs.

Adrian Binns was employed in the main office and is currently a bus boy at L?Oriental restaurant. The thing he likes most about the job is making money. The hardest part is paying attention to all the details.

?The way you have to put the forks and knives and fold the napkins,? he said. His job as a bus boy includes pouring water for the customers and bringing them bread along with setting the tables.

The reason Adrian took this job not only because he needed a summer job but also for the opportunity and to ?see that I want to do with my life?.
