Port Royal claim early lead at Goodwill

Port Royal Golf Club B team have an early two-shot lead after the opening round of the Bermuda Goodwill Tournament.

Port Royal B shot a nine-under-par 61 at Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club yesterday.

There are three teams tied in second place with Mid Ocean Club, Ocean View Golf Club and Toronto Golf Club all opening their week with seven-under 63s.

The top six teams all played at Riddell’s Bay in their opening rounds, with Mississaugua Golf and Country Club in seventh, after finishing the day as the leading scorers at Tucker’s Point with a 65.

The teams play at Port Royal and Mid Ocean today, with the third and fourth rounds following the same rotation.

In the professional division, James Ondo, from Apawamis Golf Club, leads after the first round, after his 22 Stableford points at Tucker’s Point.

There is a four-way tie for second, with Matt Sita, Brian Morris, David Wettlaufer, and Jeffrey Beaumont all on 21 points.
