Mount Saint Agnes nabs Quiz Night victory

It is official ? Mount Saint Agnes kids are smart! Smart enough to win the Bermuda School?s Annual Quiz held over the weekend with a whopping 245 points.

Clearwater Middle School came in second, followed in third place by CedarBridge Academy.

The Mount Saint Agnes team consisted of Jennifer Gehan, Michelle Kelly (captain), Andrew Cabral, Chris Abraham, Eric Cabral, Matthew Sinclair, Libby Sousa and Melanie Lopes.

They won two laptop computers for the school (donated by Applied Computer Technologies Ltd. and the Argus Group), lunch on board a cruise ship during the summer (sponsored by Team Meyer and Celebrity Cruises) and digital cameras for each team member and a shield (sponsored by the Department of Youth and Sport).

Clearwater Middle School won a laptop for their school sponsored by Belco, while each team member won a CD player donated by the Department of Youth and Sport and CedarBridge won $500 gift voucher towards books for the school?s library from the Ministry, while each team member from the three winning teams were presented with silver bowls.

In the ?Current Events? division of the competition, sponsored a $75 gift voucher from The Stationery Store/Artcetera, a commemorative plaque and thesaurus for each of the team members from Mount Saint Agnes.

The team also won a current events perpetual shield to be retained until the next contest, six free newspapers every day for March, $1,000 in free advertising, a $250 cheque for the school library and a Canon i900D Photo colour printer for their school ? all sponsored by

Second place winners, Clearwater did not go home empty handed either.sponsored each team member a $50 gift voucher from The Stationery Store/Artcetera and a Cross Gold Pen, while the school received a Canon iP3000 Pixma colour printer.

CedarBridge team members were each presented with a $25 gift voucher from The Stationery Store/Artcetera and a dictionary from , while the school received a Canon iP2000 Pixma colour printer.

In the ?Music, Art and Personalities? section of the Quiz, Mount Saint Agnes and CedarBridge were neck-in-neck in a tie for several questions before Mount Saint Agnes won.

As a reward, each pupil at the school received a free soda for their teams? efforts, which were also rewarded in the ?Wild Card? section when Mount Saint Agnes also won a free can of juice for each student at the school.

The Mount Saint Agnes team nominated ?Teen Services? as their charity of choice and team captain Michelle Kelly presented the organisation with the $500 raised during the event.

As for the in-house question: ?What was the name of the Bermudian who went to fight in the US Civil War on the side of the Federal Government of the North??
