annual invitational tournament, which gets under way tonight.

There are three divisions -- Varsity (senior) Boys and Girls, and Middle School Boys -- in the tournament, which is sponsored by Commercial Risk.

There is no junior varsity division this year because of the small number of teams participating in the inter-school competition.

The BBA would like to include all divisions but this will take greater participation from the schools and also an increased interest in refereeing particularly from former and present adult league players and parents.

Last year, Warwick Academy defeated Berkeley in the Varsity Boys final and CedarBridge Blue defeated Warwick Academy in the Varsity Girls final.

Berkeley are clearly the favourites in the Varsity Boys. The Girls division is wide open and the Middle School offers the public a look at the islands up-and-coming hoopsters.

The format for the tournament is double-elimination in the preliminary rounds which will determine the last four. There are then knockout semis and finals.

Preliminary games are taking place at MSA, Saltus, Bermuda College, and Cedar Bridge.

Semi-finals are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28 and Thursday, March 1, at Saltus and/or MSA.

Finals are scheduled for Saturday, March 3, at Bermuda College with the Middle School final at 5.30pm, the girls at 6.30pm and the boys at 7.45 p.m. Results and updated schedule will be posted on the BBA voicemail at 291-3760.
