Former Montpelier Re senior vice-president Nik Lucking has joined Lloyd’s listed Novae Group, and is based in the company’s Bermuda office.

Mr Lucking, who has also previously worked for Willis in Bermuda, is Novae’s unit head for US direct and facilitative property.

Stuart Heath, head of property at Novae, said: “We are committed to building out our presence in Bermuda and see a number of growth opportunities in the US D&F market that will complement our strategy.

“Nik’s expertise and entrepreneurial attitude marked him out as the natural choice to lead this new division and develop our proposition.”

Mr Lucking has 23 years of broking and underwriting experience. Until April this year he was head of North American direct and facultative property portfolio at Montpelier, where his responsibilities included strategic planning and development of business across all three of the Montpelier D&F platforms.

Prior to this he spent seven years with Willis in both London and Bermuda, latterly as head of the property team.

Mr Lucking has also held broking roles with Guy Carpenter, PWS International Limited and LPH Pitman Limited.

Novae is a specialist listed Lloyd’s insurer.
