Four people were attacked with machetes, knives and a sword outside of a Devonshire eatery over the weekend.

A Police spokesman said officers attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on Sunday at 4.50 a.m., where the four victims were being treated.

The victims, all from either Warwick or Paget, said that they had been near Fat Man's Caf? on Palmetto Road, Devonshire, when one of their assailants threw something into their car.

The injured passengers, who ranged in age from 21 to 47 years, suffered cuts and bruising about the face, head, neck and body.

The Police spokesman added that the three of the four victims had been treated for their injuries and released, with the forth undergoing treatment yesterday morning.

A thief got away with almost $600 in mixed currencies from a St. George's home. A Police spokesman said the complainant from So Far Lane stated the $597 was in Canadian, United States notes and Bermudian currency. The incident happened on Friday between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

And on Thursday in the pre-dawn hours a Sandys resident awoke to find that $500 in cash had gone missing from his home.

The theft occurred between the hours of 12.30 and 5.05 a.m. while complainant was sleeping in the Scott's Hill house, said Police, who are currently carrying out inquiries into the incident.

Two Bermudians and two Jamaicans appeared in Magistrates' Court Friday charged with conspiring to import cannabis into the Island.

Wayne and Sharon Mundy, 50 and 42 respectively and residents of Pembroke, Albert Smith, 35, of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Winston Richards, 41, of Portland, Jamaica were not required to enter a plea as the matter is indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.

The offence was alleged by Crown Counsel Shade Subair to have taken place on unknown dates leading up to August 6, although the type and amount of drugs they were accused of conspiring to import was not revealed in court. They applied for bail and a hearing for that will be held this Monday.
