Ascendant declines

The Ascendant Group Ltd. was the biggest decliner on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week.

The utilities company dropped 6.6 percent ($1.05) to $14.95, with 1,700 shares traded.

Butterfield Bank also fell 4.9 percent (seven cents) to $1.35, as 10,167 shares changed hands, and Argus Group Holdings Ltd. declined 3.7 percent (21 cents) to $5.50, with 30,587 shares transacted.

But Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. rose 3.4 percent (14 cents) to $4.25, as 5,000 shares were traded, and BF&M Ltd. transacted 13,049 shares to climb 3.4 percent (45 cents) to $13.70.

Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. was also up one percent (10 cents) to $9.85, with 544 shares changing hands.

Overall the Index fell 42.3 points (3.53 percent) to 1,196.28, as 80,227 shares worth BD$562,201.55 and 45 shares worth US$58,500 were transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, was up two points (0.2 percent) at 1,003.
